Automatic Image Optimization Explained

Faster Sites with Optimized Images

Images often account for most of a webpage's file size. SynaptikCMS includes powerful automatic image optimization.

Why Optimize Images?

Large, unoptimized images slow down your site, hurt search rankings, and frustrate visitors. Proper optimization can reduce file sizes by 70-90% with minimal visible quality loss.

Automatic Processing

When image optimization is enabled in the CMS Settings, every image uploaded through the File Manager is automatically resized, compressed, and optionally converted to WebP format. It's a format that offers great advantages for web pages, file size being one of them.

SynaptikCMS offers fine-tuned optimization settings. In the Settings Panel of the admin, you can set the Maximum Width/Height of your images, the level of compression desired, automatic WebP Conversion of all your images, and Automatic Thumbnail Generation.

ℹ️
Conversion to Webp is highly recommended, as it is a format optimized for the web -- smaller size for good quality media.

About Thumbnails

Thumbnails are a smaller version of your media. They are typically used to display images inside the content of your pages, with a link to the full-size file, or as featured images in order to display your content lists (articles list, projects list) without having to load a page with dozens of heavy images.

Batch Optimizer Tool

If you had optimization disabled in your settings when you initially uploaded your files, no worries. That's what this tool is for. The Batch Optimizer tool (found in Tools > Image Compression) lets you process your entire media library (or just a selected media folder) at once.
