Content Types Explained

Understanding Content Types in SynaptikCMS

SynaptikCMS organizes your content into three distinct types, each designed for specific purposes. Understanding when to use each type will help you structure your site effectively.

Articles

Articles are time-sensitive content entries, perfect for blog posts, news updates, announcements, and any content that benefits from chronological organization. Articles support categories and tags for organization, display publish dates prominently, and appear in reverse chronological order on archive pages.

Use articles for: Blog posts, news, tutorials, reviews, announcements, and any regularly updated content.

Pages

Pages are static, evergreen content that forms the backbone of your site. They're typically linked from your main navigation and don't change frequently. Pages don't display dates by default and aren't organized chronologically.

Use pages for: About, Contact, Services, Privacy Policy, Terms of Service, and other permanent site sections.

Projects

Projects are portfolio items designed to showcase your work. They include all the features of articles (dates, categories, tags) plus additional fields for project descriptions and enhanced gallery support.

Use projects for: Portfolio pieces, case studies, client work, personal projects, and any work you want to showcase.

Shared Features

All content types share powerful features: the visual editor, SEO metadata, image galleries, featured images, and custom URL slugs.
